The Hario Woodneck is a great option for pour-over brewing at home. It uses a unique cloth filter (AKA “sock” or “nel”) that is both reusable and eliminates the paper taste transferred by disposable filters.  Situated in between a porous metal filter and very fine paper filters, cloth filters produce a cup with great flavor clarity and a significant body. It’s literally the best of both worlds.

Before first, soak the cloth filter in boiling water for 5 minutes. To keep the filter from drying out in between brews, it’s recommended to store the cloth filter in a small amount of water in a plastic bag or airtight container and keep in the refrigerator. With this kind of TLC, the cloth filter will give dozens of brews before needing to be replaced.
